About

nerdreps is a language learning app built around a simple trade: study vocabulary, and it pays you in stories you can actually read.

At its core it is a spaced-repetition system covering the first 1,000 Japanese words by frequency, scheduled with FSRS-6 so every review lands right before you would forget. On top of that sits the Stories tab: 37 short stories whose vocabulary is mapped word-for-word to the deck. A story unlocks when your real review history shows you know at least 95% of its words, never more than one unknown word per sentence, so reading previews what study is about to teach and study pays off what reading made you curious about.

A few things worth knowing:

For the story behind it, read Hello, World! (why it exists) and the launch post (how the reading mechanic works).
